The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) announced that K.V.R. Murty assumed office as a Whole Time Member in Mumbai on 15 April 2026. He joined SEBI from the Ministry of Defence, where he served as Additional Controller General of Defence Accounts. SEBI highlighted Murty’s more than three decades of experience across national security, corporate law and public-sector financial advisory roles, including as Principal Integrated Financial Adviser to the Indian Air Force, Financial Adviser to the Defence Research and Development Organisation, and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, where he handled e-governance and corporate law administration. The release also noted his work on ease of doing business reforms, including the decriminalisation of corporate laws, and his prior service as a part-time government nominee member on the SEBI Board, the National Financial Reporting Authority and professional institute councils, alongside his academic background in economics and a 2024 Raksha Mantri Award for Excellence.
