The Austrian National Bank (OeNB) announced that Regina Fuchs has taken over as head of the OeNB’s Statistics Department with effect from the start of 2026, becoming the first woman to hold the role. Fuchs previously led the Population Directorate and the Austrian Micro Data Center at Statistics Austria, where she shaped the development of the Micro Data Center. The OeNB highlighted her expertise in building data infrastructure, applied statistics and international cooperation; in the new role, Fuchs pointed to plans to more closely connect statistical and data ecosystems across public organisations and emphasised equal and transparent access to data.
