Central Bank of Bahrain Governor Khalid Humaidan emphasized the need for central banks and regulators to invest in technology that strengthens oversight, financial stability and consumer protection. Speaking at a Fintech Forward 2026 discussion on aligning regulation, investment and growth, he also highlighted international collaboration as a means of supporting Bahrain’s financial services competitiveness. Humaidan identified blockchain, digital assets, programmable money and smart contracts as technologies with the potential to reshape payments, credit and other financial services. He said financial stability should remain central as the sector contributes to economic growth, foreign investment, national talent development and Bahrain’s role as a financial technology hub.
