Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services published complaint data for Nuevo León covering the first four months of 2026. The state accounted for 4.3% of complaints nationwide, with 4,122 cases handled, up 14.7% from a year earlier. Users recovered MXN 14.1 million from concluded complaints, and 41.9% of cases were resolved in the user's favor. Electronic handling represented 59.7% of complaints, while 23.6% related to improper collection practices. Multiple banking institutions accounted for 67.3% of complaints, followed by insurers at 14.6% and SOFOM ENR at 8.6%. Within banking, the main issues were unrecognized charges and collection activity directed at non-debtors or involving threats and intimidation, which together made up 45.6% of complaints in the state. Credit cards, debit cards and personal loans generated 69.0% of banking complaints, and 33.8% of all complaints involved possible fraud, mainly unrecognized charges and unrecognized electronic transfers. Monterrey generated 16.9% of complaints, followed by Guadalupe at 8.9% and Apodaca at 6.4%.
