The National Bank of Ethiopia has joined the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), positioning it within the global central bank and supervisory forum focused on sustainable finance and the management of climate-related financial risks. Membership brings the National Bank of Ethiopia into a network of more than 149 central banks and financial regulators and is intended to support the integration of climate and environmental considerations into financial supervision, monetary policy and risk management. The NGFS is headquartered at the Banque de France in Paris and, since its establishment in 2017, has worked to guide central banks and supervisors in aligning financial systems with sustainability objectives, strengthening climate-related risk management and mobilising financing for sustainable development.
