The Maldives Monetary Authority announced that it will issue a new Maldivian rufiyaa 10 (MVR 10) banknote and put it into circulation from 1 April 2026, in response to demand for cash in the economy. The new note is dated 31 July 2025 and bears the governor’s signature. The authority also published the note’s design and identifying features, and confirmed that the existing MVR 10 banknote will continue to circulate alongside the new issue.

Maldives Monetary Authority to introduce a new MVR 10 banknote into circulation from 1 April 2026
The Maldives Monetary Authority will issue a new Maldivian rufiyaa 10 (MVR 10) banknote and place it into circulation in response to cash demand. The note, dated 31 July 2025 and bearing the governor’s signature, has published design and security features, and the existing MVR 10 banknote will remain in circulation alongside the new issue.
