The Chile Financial Market Commission has published for consultation a proposal to amend General Rule No. 16 and General Rule No. 182, updating registration and authorisation processes for securities intermediaries and commodity exchange brokers following changes introduced by the Fintech Act (Law No. 21,521). Under the proposed amendments, General Rule No. 16 would update procedures and requirements to enrol in the Registry of Stockbrokers and Securities Agents and would establish procedures and requirements to authorise securities intermediation services. Changes to General Rule No. 182 would update procedures and requirements to enrol in the Registry of Commodity Exchange Brokers. A Regulatory Report setting out the core elements of the proposal and its impact assessment is also available. Comments can be submitted via the CMF website’s Regulations Under Consultation section until September 8, 2025.
