The Argentina Securities Commission (CNV) hosted a meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Committee 8 in Buenos Aires from 24 to 26 June, marking the first time the committee has convened in Argentina and bringing together representatives from 28 countries. Committee 8 focuses on strengthening retail investor financial education and advising the IOSCO Board on emerging investor protection issues. Discussions covered international priorities including investment risk prevention, technology-related challenges, new communication strategies, and deepening investor education programmes. CNV vice president Sonia Salvatierra highlighted CNV initiatives such as its Financial Education Programme and an audiovisual series titled “You can invest too. If you are informed, you make better decisions”, while the CNV also noted its ongoing participation in IOSCO technical committees and its representation of IOSCO’s Inter-American Regional Committee on the IOSCO Board through CNV president Roberto E. Silva.
