The Securities and Exchange Board of India has constituted a Working Group to formulate short-term and long-term technology roadmaps for Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs), covering a five-year and ten-year horizon. The initiative is positioned as a response to rapid technological change and the growing reliance on digital systems across market operations, surveillance, risk management, investor protection and regulatory oversight. The roadmap work is intended to take a holistic, forward-looking view of MIIs’ adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, distributed ledger technology, cloud computing, SupTech and RegTech solutions, tokenisation and quantum-safe systems. The Working Group is chaired by Dr D.B. Phatak, Professor Emeritus at IIT Bombay, and includes the chairpersons of MIIs’ Standing Committee on Technology, senior officials from stock brokers and registrars and transfer agents, alongside technology and securities market experts.
