Argentina's Superintendency of Insurance published an update on Superintendent Guillermo Plate’s remarks at an event marking the 50th anniversary of Zurich Multinational and the launch of the International Risk Management Association (IRMA). Plate reiterated the supervisor’s focus on ensuring insurers’ solvency and pointed to work underway to modernise the sector through simpler, more efficient regulation aimed at enabling innovation, competition and investment. In his comments, Plate described solvency as a precondition for insurance contracts and said the Superintendency supervises insurers and intervenes when issues arise, while characterising the Argentine insurance system as functioning overall. He also highlighted Zurich’s more than 60-year presence in Argentina and presented IRMA’s launch as a platform for international cooperation on risk management in a context of increasingly interconnected risks.
