The National Bank of Ukraine published a recap of its 10th Annual Research Conference, highlighting a central message that policy flexibility during crises must remain anchored in price stability and institutional independence. Participants emphasized that credibility and public trust are built over years through sound rules, oversight and discipline, allowing central banks to adapt their tools without losing sight of their mandate. Discussions on artificial intelligence and other technologies stressed that innovation does not remove institutional responsibility and should be shaped to expand economic tasks requiring human expertise rather than restricted outright. The recap also presented Ukraine as a case study in wartime central banking and financial innovation. Participants cited the NBU’s adaptation of monetary tools, Ukraine’s increase in alignment with EU financial regulation from about 50% to nearly 80%, and the fact that 96 of every 100 card payments are cashless.
