The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission published 2025 and first quarter 2026 statistics on insurance agents, individual insurance brokers and corporate insurance brokers. The data show fewer new individual entrants but higher renewal activity, while new applications from corporate insurance brokers increased. As of 31 March 2026, there were 244,048 insurance agents, 2,318 insurance agent offices, 321,759 individual insurance brokers and 736 corporate insurance broker companies. New license applications from individual agents and brokers fell to 104,884 in 2025, down 11.31 percent from the previous year and across all license types, and then fell a further 13.40 percent year on year to 19,408 in the first quarter of 2026. Renewals for individual agents and brokers rose to 175,401 in 2025, up 7.44 percent, and to 43,897 in the first quarter of 2026, up 11.97 percent. For corporate insurance brokers, new license applications rose to 28 companies in 2025, up 64.71 percent, while renewals fell 40.80 percent to 193 companies. In the first quarter of 2026, new applications rose 28.57 percent to nine companies and renewals increased 5.56 percent to 38. The licensee mix also differed by business line, with agents more concentrated in life insurance and both individual and corporate brokers more concentrated in non-life insurance. The Office also reported 884 applications in 2025 to switch from broker to agent status, including 839 to life insurance agent and 45 to non-life insurance agent.
