The National Bank of Denmark published results from its lending survey indicating an overall increase in loan demand from banks’ and mortgage institutions’ existing private customers in the fourth quarter of 2024. The survey’s assessment is consistent with higher lending volumes: average monthly loan disbursements to Danish private customers were DKK 39.8 billion in the first two months of the quarter, up from DKK 30.6 billion per month in the third quarter. Institutions attributed stronger demand to falling lending rates and increased activity in the housing market. Looking ahead, around one-third of institutions expect loan demand to rise further in the first quarter of 2025, while the remainder expect demand to remain at fourth-quarter levels.
