The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority has signed a first-of-its-kind cooperation protocol with the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics to establish a framework for exchanging and making available data and statistical indicators on the insurance and securities brokerage sectors. The arrangement is intended to support economic and social policymaking with updated data and indicators drawn from nonbank financial activities under the authority’s supervision. The protocol covers the flow of statistical data on insurance, reinsurance and securities brokerage companies supervised by the authority to CAPMAS, Egypt’s official source of state data and statistics. It is designed to improve data quality and the efficiency of statistical work by reducing duplicate data requests to companies and lowering their administrative burden. The authority also linked the agreement to its broader push to require firms across capital markets, insurance and nonbank finance to submit data through electronic connectivity platforms and to expand full linkage between its database and supervised sectors, including the use of modern analytical tools to generate indicators more quickly and accurately. Both sides said the protocol will be implemented with requirements for accuracy, confidentiality and data protection as they work to use the shared statistical data in official reporting and policy support.
