The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority published survey findings indicating that, despite a rule change requiring banks to provide amortisation statements digitally and without undue delay, relatively few mortgage borrowers have requested the document needed to move a mortgage to another bank. Since last autumn, banks have been obliged to issue the amortisation statement digitally to make switching easier and support competition. The survey found that one in four mortgage borrowers have at some point requested their amortisation statement, while one in ten switched mortgage bank in the past year. Nearly eight in ten respondents said they know it is possible to obtain the amortisation statement digitally, and FI noted that requesting it can improve pricing or terms even if the borrower ultimately does not switch. The survey was conducted with Origo Group and covered more than 1,000 Swedes in May 2025.
