The Dominican Republic's Pensions Superintendency highlighted the scope for further pension fund investment in the domestic securities market at Expo Mercado de Valores 2026. Superintendent Francisco A. Torres said DOP 722 billion has been approved for pension fund investment through investment funds, of which DOP 482 billion remains to be placed, creating capacity to finance economic growth and improve returns on workers’ savings. The discussion continued the authority’s focus on expanding pension funds’ role in the securities market. Participants explored potential investment by pension fund administrators in micro, small and medium enterprises and agricultural technology projects linked to Meta RD 2036. Securities Market Superintendent Ernesto Bournigal attributed much of the market’s growth to pension savings invested through investment funds, citing about 280 projects across 15 economic activities that support more than 57,500 direct jobs and nearly 4,800 indirect jobs. Private issuances, investment funds and publicly offered trusts exceeded DOP 595 billion as of July 2026.
