The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) ordered the cessation of unauthorised insurance intermediation carried out through five websites and instructed providers operating in Italy to block access to them. Blocking activity is under way and may take a few days for technical reasons. The sites named in the order are rcasicura.it, preventivi.caruosassicurazioni.it, sardone-fabio.com (and www.sardone-fabio.com), amdconsulting.it (and www.amdconsulting.it), and quintotempo.it (and www.quintotempo.it). The cease-and-desist orders are published in IVASS’s “Defend ourselves from scams” section, bringing the total number of sites subject to blocking orders to 247 since IVASS began using this power in November 2023. IVASS also urged consumers to be cautious with insurance offers made via the internet, phone or instant messaging, particularly short-term motor third-party liability policies, and to verify that quotes and contracts relate to authorised insurers and intermediaries, including by consulting IVASS registers and lists.
