The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) announced that the Spanish Insurance and Pension Funds Authority, the Dirección General de Seguros y Fondos de Pensiones (DGSFP), has become a signatory to the IAIS Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MMoU), enabling supervisory cooperation and information exchange across jurisdictions. The MMoU sets a global framework for compliance and confidentiality that supports cross-border cooperation between insurance supervisors. Signatories are admitted following an assessment of their professional secrecy regimes by an independent team of IAIS members, and membership allows supervisors to exchange relevant information and assist other signatories in supervising cross-border insurance operations. The IAIS noted that MMoU membership has expanded since the first admission in June 2009 and now represents around three-quarters of global gross written premiums.

This agreement facilitates supervisory cooperation and information exchange across jurisdictions, with membership now covering approximately three-quarters of global gross written premiums.
