South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service reported that corporate financing through equity and debt issuance fell 15.6% year over year to KRW126.5754 trillion in the first half of 2026. By contrast, commercial paper and short-term bond issuance rose 68.0% to KRW1,272.8483 trillion, driven mainly by a 90.4% increase in short-term bonds. Equity issuance declined 29.6% to KRW2.9786 trillion as initial public offering proceeds and public equity offerings each fell by about 30%. Debt issuance decreased 15.2% to KRW123.5968 trillion, including declines of 31.5% in corporate bonds, 7.2% in financial debentures and 30.6% in asset-backed securities. Commercial paper issuance increased 19.0% to KRW282.7547 trillion, while short-term bond issuance reached KRW990.0936 trillion.
