The Czech National Bank announced that it will issue 200,000 anniversary CZK 5,000 banknotes on Sept. 22, 2026, commemorating 100 years since the National Bank of Czechoslovakia began operations. The notes are legal tender and have the same design and parameters as the standard 2023 version, with an additional foil print featuring nano effects and anniversary motifs. The banknotes will be available while stocks last exclusively by exchanging Czech banknotes of the same value at the central bank’s cash offices in Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové and Ostrava. Exchanges are limited to three anniversary notes per person. The central bank will also sell 30,000 presentation sleeves for CZK 100 each, limited to one per person.
