The Albania Financial Services Authority published an update on its meeting with the Association of Life Insurance Companies, Pensions and Investment Funds, focusing on cooperation to align Albania’s non-bank financial regulatory framework with European Union standards. The discussions centred on transposition and implementation of the EU acquis under Chapter 9 “Financial Services”, with an emphasis on higher standards for risk management and consumer protection. The authority highlighted that aligning with the acquis is intended to increase market trust, improve the quality of products and services, and strengthen consumer protection, particularly for long-term products such as life insurance, private pensions and investment funds. The meeting also underlined that legal and regulatory harmonisation should be accompanied by stronger supervision and a focus on financial stability and consumer protection. The parties agreed to continue technical consultations on approximation priorities and to strengthen cooperation to support a clear regulatory framework, effective supervision and sustainable development in the relevant markets.
