The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority has stepped up public outreach on insurance as part of the 62nd anniversary celebrations of the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar being held in West Zanzibar. The initiative is being delivered through a dedicated TIRA booth at the Mao Zedong grounds, opposite the central bank booth, where residents and visitors are briefed on the role of insurance, how it works and its benefits in protecting lives and property. The Unguja Zone Manager, Kurenje Mbura, urged Zanzibar residents and visitors from mainland Tanzania and elsewhere to visit the booth and described the education programme as a way to raise awareness and encourage the use of insurance to manage disasters and other risks. The celebrations began on 21 April 2026 and are scheduled to end on 27 April 2026, having been officially launched by Zanzibar’s Minister of Labour and Investment, Shariff A. Shariff.
