The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority organised a virtual workshop for officials from business development services centres under the Nilepreneurs initiative to raise awareness of non-banking financial activities and services, as part of efforts to expand financial, investment and insurance inclusion through greater non-banking financial literacy. Around 80 participants from across Egypt attended. The session covered the Authority’s role in the non-banking financial sector and the range of activities it supervises, including mortgage finance, insurance, consumer finance, financial leasing, the capital market and the movable collateral registry, with a particular focus on financing for small, medium and micro enterprises to help centre staff guide entrepreneurs and business owners toward funding and investment opportunities outside the banking sector. The workshop forms part of a wider series of activities aimed at strengthening the capabilities of organisations supporting entrepreneurship and reinforcing business development centres as a link between projects and financing providers.
