The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) announced a partnership with Switzerland’s Federal Statistical Office to integrate official Swiss business registry data into Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) records through a new direct linking approach. Each LEI will include a URL that connects users to the Swiss UID register, enabling immediate access to verified company information. The direct link is intended to remove the need for manual registry searches and translations and to streamline global due diligence processes such as Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Supplier (KYS). GLEIF said the initiative also aims to improve international visibility for Swiss businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, which account for more than 99% of companies in Switzerland, and to reinforce the LEI system as a source of verifiable entity identity.
