The National Bank of Hungary hosted the first seminar of its 2026 Technical Cooperation Programme in Budapest from 20–23 April 2026, focused on how the central bank’s statistical work runs from data reporting requirements through to analysis and publication. The event brought together 26 experts from 17 countries and was framed around the role of high-quality statistical data and data-driven analytical frameworks in supporting central bank decision-making. Participants received an overview of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank’s statistical processes, including aggregated collections, granular data provision, the preparation of specialised statistics, and publication workflows. Coverage included balance of payments, monetary and other financial statistics, financial accounts, securities statistics, and supervisory statistics, alongside the supporting IT set-up such as the Data Warehouse, registers and publication preparation tools, plus data quality assurance, data governance and data asset management. The Technical Cooperation Programme is intended to support central bank knowledge sharing by promoting dialogue and the exchange of best practices in support of safeguarding financial stability.
