The Central Bank of Chile has launched the National Financial Education Olympiad, a nationwide competition organised with professional institute and technical training centre Inacap as part of the central bank’s programme of activities for its 100th anniversary. The initiative is intended to strengthen teachers’ and students’ engagement with financial education and build skills that support personal and household wellbeing. The competition is open to students in the final two years of secondary education across Chile, competing in teams of two to three students accompanied by a teacher adviser. It is structured to maximise territorial coverage: the first stage in June will be online, with Inacap campuses available for schools with limited connectivity; the top team in each region will advance to in-person macro-regional semifinals in August, and winners will compete in the national final in October at the Central Bank’s heritage building. The central bank positioned the Olympiad within its longer-running financial education work, including its Central en tu Vida programme, and indicated that contest rules and participation details are available through that platform.
