The World Federation of Exchanges has launched a formal consultation on draft Transition Equity Principles, a proposed framework for exchanges to create Transition Equity Designations for listed companies on credible decarbonisation pathways. The designations are intended to improve access to capital for companies pursuing decarbonisation objectives and give investors decision-useful information on issuers’ transition pathways. Supported by WFE members, the draft principles are intended to bring more clarity, consistency and rigour to transition equities and support cross-border investment activity through greater international recognition of such offerings. They build on the WFE Green Equity Principles published in 2023 and the Practical Guide for Issuers on Accessing Transition Finance published earlier in 2026. The consultation follows the initial publication of the principles on 26 May 2026 and their presentation at the WFE Sustainability Conference in Luxembourg on 3 and 4 June 2026, with feedback invited from exchanges, issuers, investors, regulators, standard setters and other stakeholders until 8 October 2026.
