The Bank of Spain has announced that it will host a high level international meeting in Madrid on 21 and 22 May on water and financial stability, jointly convened by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System and CDP. The conference forms part of the OECD Roundtable on Financing Water and will focus on the macroeconomic and financial risks linked to water scarcity, variability and quality. The agenda centres on how water related shocks can transmit into the financial system, including sectoral and global supply chain vulnerabilities, supervisory responses, fiscal and sovereign risk, insurance protection gaps and the pricing of water risks in transition pathways. Participants include representatives from central banks, supervisors, international organisations, financial institutions, insurers, corporates and academia. The meeting will be opened by the Bank of Spain's Deputy Governor, and presentations and discussions will be livestreamed over both days.
