Elizabeth Warren, ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, has launched the Trumpflation Tracker, a dashboard that will monitor household costs and broader financial indicators each month. Based on its methodology, the tracker estimates that cumulative inflation rose 5.2% from December 2024 through August 2026, adding about USD 3,388 to the average household’s costs over the period. The calculation applies monthly price changes to 2024 household spending and assumes unchanged purchase quantities. The dashboard estimates increases of 12.7% for residential electricity, 43.7% for gasoline, 3.7% for groceries, 14.6% for health care, 5.1% for rent and 7.6% for child care, with corresponding additional household costs ranging from USD 211 for groceries to USD 929 for health care. It also compares a 7.57% 30-year mortgage rate on Oct. 2, 2026, with 5.99% on Feb. 27, estimating an additional USD 4,330 in annual principal and interest payments for a typical home purchase with a 20% down payment. Other measures cover real wages, job growth, household debt and estimated credit card interest costs.
