The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic has announced that 2025 series DOP 50 banknotes will enter circulation on 8 June 2026. The new notes carry the same security features as the DOP 50 banknotes already in circulation, and the existing notes will remain legal tender for all public and private obligations. Production of the new banknotes was ordered through an international public tender in May 2025. The notice states that the security design remains unchanged and highlights features including the year mark, a tactile mark for visually impaired users, a latent image, an embedded security thread, horizontal and vertical serial numbering, microprinting and the Central Bank's visual identity mark.
