The Central Bank of Egypt signed a cooperation protocol with Egypt's Supreme Council for Media Regulation to coordinate on the regulation of digital banking content, including what banks publish on their websites and across their applications, in support of enhanced electronic disclosure of banking and financial services. Signed by Central Bank of Egypt Governor Hassan Abdalla and Supreme Council for Media Regulation Chair Khaled Abdelaziz, the protocol is intended to support the dissemination of accurate information and data to the public. The Central Bank of Egypt’s board is responsible for determining the information that must be published on websites by banks and other licensed entities, including disclosures on banking services and their prices, the publication of financial statements and other data, as well as setting publication methods and channels and defining the standards, requirements and permissions governing use of such websites.
