The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission issued a cease and desist order against Melot’s Catering Services, Mary Rose Reales Ceprino and their agents for soliciting public investments through unregistered securities. The order requires them to stop offering the investments and end the scheme’s online presence until they obtain the necessary approvals. The respondents are also barred from conducting transactions involving funds at depository banks or transferring assets, including bank deposits, to preserve them for investors. The scheme sought minimum investments of PHP 50,000 to finance the expansion and renovation of kitchen facilities, promising monthly interest of 10% for six to 12 months. The business was not registered with the commission as a corporation or partnership and had no license to sell securities.
