The National Bank of Moldova published details of a meeting in Brussels between Governor Anca Dragu and European Commissioner Maria Luís Albuquerque, held alongside the European Union's annual economic and financial dialogue with regional partners. The talks focused on cooperation between Moldova and EU institutions in financial services, the stability of the banking and non-bank financial sectors, and Moldova's integration into the EU financial market. Discussions covered possible recognition of the equivalence of Moldova's banking prudential framework with the EU framework under the European Banking Authority methodology, as well as the economy-wide impact of operational connection to the Single Euro Payments Area. The two sides also reviewed implementation of the Reform Agenda under the European Union-backed Growth Plan for Moldova and progress in aligning Moldova's financial regulation and supervision framework with EU legislation.
