The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has warned the public about scam-related press releases issued by banks after reports of fraudulent websites, internet banking login screens, phishing emails and other scams. Links to the relevant bank notices are available on the Hong Kong Monetary Authority website. It reiterated that banks do not send SMS messages or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to their websites to carry out transactions, and do not ask for sensitive information such as login passwords or one-time passwords by phone, email or SMS. Anyone who has provided personal information or conducted financial transactions through or in response to the scams should contact the relevant bank and report the matter to the Crime Wing Information Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force.
