The Central Bank of Iraq reported that Governor Ali Mohsen Ismail Al-Allaq met with U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Josh Harris to discuss strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership and supporting monetary and economic stability in Iraq. The U.S. side highlighted its intention to support stability and praised the Central Bank of Iraq’s reform progress and its working relationships with the U.S. Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve. The governor cited ongoing support from the U.S. Treasury and the Federal Reserve, including through quarterly meetings, and reviewed the banking reform plan, progress in stabilising foreign transfers, and measures to regulate the sale of dollars in line with international best practices and standards. Harris indicated readiness to continue supporting the Central Bank of Iraq’s efforts to advance its financial and monetary stability objectives.
