The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) delivered an outreach session on takaful insurance to students from Morogoro Muslim University, as part of its broader strategy to expand public insurance education through different community groups and communication channels. The session took place on 10 April 2025 at TIRA’s offices in Mtendeni. Insurance officers Paul Ngangaji and Raya Abdallah presented takaful as a Sharia-compliant cooperative insurance model in which members pool contributions to support each other in the event of losses or disasters, and linked the approach to addressing reluctance to take conventional insurance, including concerns about interest (riba).
