The National Bank of Moldova has issued two legal tender coins marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s proclamation of independence. The release comprises a silver commemorative coin with a face value of MDL 100 and a commemorative circulation coin with a face value of MDL 10. The MDL 100 coin joins the Historical Events series and has a limited mintage of 1,300. It is available from the central bank and licensed banks, whose sale price may not exceed the central bank’s price by more than 3%. The bimetallic-style MDL 10 coin, made from nickel- and brass-plated steel, has a mintage of 250,000 and will circulate alongside other MDL 10 coins and banknotes.
