Bank Negara Malaysia and the People’s Bank of China have renewed their bilateral currency swap arrangement for five years, covering 2026 to 2031, and increased its size to RMB220 billion and MYR130 billion from RMB180 billion and MYR110 billion. The arrangement supports local-currency settlement of bilateral trade and investment between Malaysia and China. First established in 2009, it was previously renewed in 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2021.
