The Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority, together with the Norwegian Consumer Authority and the Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime, has sent a joint letter to 15 social media profiles promoting BE, or Better Experience, and the Sagemaster and DeepSage services, warning that the marketing may be unlawful. The authorities say BE is not authorized to offer investment services in Norway, so its services are not supervised and may serve as a gateway to illegal investment activity. They also say the model has clear similarities to a pyramid scheme. The move follows a joint warning from the consumer and financial supervisors on 23 March 2026 and marks a more direct intervention. The letter says the social media marketing often focuses on high income, success stories and exclusive trips while leaving unclear how participants actually earn money and what costs, terms and loss risks apply. Many of the accounts appear to be members recruiting new members rather than professional influencers. The Norwegian Consumer Authority said advertising must be correct and balanced and clearly disclose key terms and risks. Breaches can lead to orders to stop specific advertising, fines and police reports. The economic crime authority added that misleading information causing investment losses may amount to investment fraud, and sharing information known to be false or misleading may constitute aiding fraud.
