The Commodity Futures Trading Commission reported that its Agricultural Advisory Committee held its first meeting of 2026, examining the Basel III proposal, potential gaps in risk management tools for agricultural end users, round-the-clock trading and emerging markets. The meeting did not announce any formal policy action. Representatives from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Federal Reserve Board and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation presented the Basel III proposal. The committee also discussed the Commitments of Traders Report, agricultural end-user hedging needs and the funding-rate mechanism for perpetual futures, with members considering how new technologies and market structures could affect agricultural market efficiency.
