The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative published a seven-year review of the Principles for Responsible Banking, alongside a new video series and supporting resources. More than 350 signatory banks across over 85 countries represent about half of the global banking sector by value, or approximately USD 99 trillion. Nearly all signatory banks have sustainability oversight at board or CEO level, while 52% link remuneration to sustainability metrics. Research cited from the MSCI Institute rates 66% of signatories as sustainability leaders, compared with 28% of non-signatories. Almost 90% offer sustainability-related financial products, versus 46% of non-signatories, and signatories are five times more likely to adopt specific environmental credit risk policies. The accompanying resources address executive risk oversight, emerging sustainability risks, nature targets, financial health and inclusion, and green banking development in China.
