The Central Bank of Cyprus, through the Cyprus Financial Literacy and Education Committee (KEHAP), published a programme of actions and events for Global Money Week aimed at improving financial literacy among young people and the wider public. KEHAP has operated since June 2024 as Cyprus’s national body for the strategy and promotion of financial education under the chairmanship of the Central Bank. The programme includes an international conference, “Financial Literacy for the Youth: Preparing the Next Generation”, on 13 March with the President of the Republic of Cyprus as keynote speaker and participation from KEHAP’s Scientific Advisory Committee on international good practices. The same day, KEHAP is holding a workshop for journalists at the Central Bank of Cyprus presenting results from the latest OECD Financial Literacy Survey in Cyprus and discussing responsible media coverage of financial education, alongside a workshop at the Ministry of Finance for academics and secondary education teachers on integrating financial education into curricula. A further dialogue session is scheduled at the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission on 14 March with KEHAP associates and municipal authority representatives to discuss challenges and opportunities for implementing the national strategy, followed by three parallel financial education workshops in Nicosia and Limassol for students and youth organisations. Coordination is being handled by KEHAP’s Coordination and Management Team based at the Central Bank, and the conference will be streamed via the Central Bank of Cyprus YouTube channel.
