Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority has delivered a training program lasting five days through its Financial Services Institute for staff of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics. The program develops skills in analyzing nonbank financial data and producing statistical indicators under an existing cooperation agreement between the two authorities. The agreement seeks to coordinate data exchange, improve the information used in national reports and reduce duplicate requests for data from companies. Participants analyzed published financial statements from brokerage and insurance companies and calculated financial ratios, growth rates and sector performance indicators. Insurance analysis covered premiums, claims, technical reserves and investments, while capital market training included interpreting activity, liquidity and solvency indicators. Practical work also addressed checking data quality and comparability, correcting errors and preparing statistical tables and periodic reports.
