South Korea's Financial Services Commission published its public fund management update for the third quarter of 2026, reporting KRW 69.6 billion recovered during the quarter. Cumulative recoveries reached KRW 123.4 trillion by Sept. 30, equivalent to 73.1% of the KRW 168.7 trillion deployed since November 1997 to restructure troubled financial institutions following the 1997 economic crisis. Quarterly recoveries included KRW 19 billion from sales of Seoul Guarantee Insurance shares and KRW 23.7 billion in dividends from the insurer. Government bonds received as repayment from the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives that matured during the quarter contributed KRW 20 billion. A further KRW 6.9 billion came from sources including interest on loans extended during earlier financial institution restructuring to KR&C, a subsidiary of the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation.
