The Dutch Central Bank (DNB) has published its first statistics on direct crypto holdings through Dutch crypto asset service providers (CASPs), showing households held EUR 3.2 billion at the end of June 2026. Companies and other Dutch sectors held a further EUR 200 million, bringing the total to EUR 3.4 billion. Almost all household holdings consisted of unbacked cryptocurrencies, including EUR 1.5 billion in bitcoin and EUR 0.3 billion in ethereum. Stablecoins, which aim to maintain a stable value against currencies such as the dollar or euro, accounted for less than 1%. Household crypto holdings through domestic providers were equivalent to about 1.4% of their EUR 234.2 billion invested in listed shares, investment funds and bonds. The statistics exclude crypto held with foreign providers or directly in investors’ own hardware or software wallets. They also exclude indirect crypto investments, which DNB has reported on separately.
