The Central Bank of Taiwan reported faster annual growth in monetary aggregates and financial institutions’ loans and investments in September 2026. Annual M1B growth rose to 7.20%, while M2 growth increased to 7.24%. The acceleration in M2 mainly reflected faster annual growth in bank loans and investments and the temporary placement of funds raised overseas by enterprises. Measured on a daily average basis, M1B and M2 increased by 1.02% and 0.97%, respectively, from the previous month. Annual growth in monetary financial institutions’ outstanding loans and investments rose to 9.79% at the end of September from 9.43% in August, mainly because of faster growth in bank claims on the private sector, government enterprises and the government. Outstanding loans and investments, measured on a cost basis, increased 0.77% from the previous month. A broader measure incorporating life insurers’ loans and investments and loans reclassified and written off by monetary financial institutions showed annual growth of 8.06%, up from 7.69% in August.
