Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) highlighted Islamic finance, financing for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and sustainable finance as priorities for policy research at its fourth International Research Forum in Jakarta. It also launched the International Journal of Islamic Financial System (IJIFS), providing a publication platform for research on Islamic financial systems. In opening remarks, OJK Board of Commissioners Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi emphasized that expanding financing, including for MSMEs, requires contributions from capital markets and other financial services sectors rather than banks alone. She identified deeper financial markets, digital innovation and connectivity as foundations for improving productivity and supporting economic growth. The OJK Institute will compile the forum's findings as policy input for OJK's research agenda. The new journal complements the existing International Journal of Financial Systems. OJK also announced the winners of its OJK Paper Award (KARISMA) 2026, which focused on MSMEs in the digital ecosystem and attracted a record 423 submissions, up 42% from the previous year. OJK will seek publication of the winning papers in the two journals, subject to editorial review.
