The Financial Superintendence of Colombia (SFC) concluded World Investor Week 2026, focusing on expanding capital market financing for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the safeguards needed to protect investors. Led by the SFC for the 10th time, the event comprised nine educational sessions attended by 875 people across five cities. In a video message to the opening session in Barranquilla, Financial Superintendent Pablo Rivas Herazo highlighted how the new securitization regime provides additional financing, capitalization and growth options for MSMEs. These businesses account for 99% of Colombian companies. Discussions emphasized that broader access to capital markets must be accompanied by information, appropriate risk management and investor protection mechanisms. Other sessions addressed climate risks and protecting investors against disruptions in global markets.
