The World Bank approved a USD 485 million project combining technical assistance and long term financing to help Türkiye’s small and medium manufacturers modernize production, improve productivity and strengthen export competitiveness. The Transforming Industry with Technology (TransformIndustry) Project will support manufacturers focused on exports that participate in the government’s Digital Transformation Program and Green Transition Program. Technical assistance will help firms develop digital transformation roadmaps, navigate certification processes and prepare bankable investment plans. Financing through participating financial institutions will support digital technologies, efficiency upgrades and investments in cleaner production. Eligible technologies include artificial intelligence, industrial automation and digital traceability systems, alongside low carbon production and circular economy solutions. These measures address firms’ financing constraints and growing international requirements concerning sustainability, carbon emissions and supply chain traceability. The project is expected to mobilize approximately USD 180 million in private capital. By 2032, it aims to help approximately 400 firms prepare investment plans, provide financing to 280 firms and help another 200 adopt digital or green transformation goals. Targeted support will help businesses owned or led by women improve investment readiness and access to finance. The project is also expected to generate approximately 102,000 more and better paid jobs and support workforce training. The Ministry of Industry and Technology will implement it in partnership with Türk Eximbank and VakıfBank.
