Angola's Capital Markets Commission (CMC) has opened applications for the sixth edition of its CMC and Universities research competition for 2026/2027. The competition invites original research on Angola's capital markets from teams of three students enrolled in the final or penultimate year at legally recognized higher education institutions in Angola. Applications close Dec. 20, 2026, and team members may attend different institutions. Participants can select a suggested research topic or propose their own, subject to prior CMC approval. Suggested topics cover barriers to investment and market liquidity, issuer governance and market abuse, and regulatory challenges involving crowdfunding and cryptocurrencies. Projects must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism or a similarity score exceeding 15%, excluding references, properly identified quotations and institutional identification details, results in exclusion. Assessment places the greatest weight on scientific quality and methodological rigor, at 30%, followed by contributions to national capital market development, at 25%. The 10 highest scoring projects advance to a final defense. Prizes for the top three teams include monetary awards, with amounts to be announced. The winning team's package also includes a laptop for each member and paid internships at the CMC lasting three months.
